CASE STUDY
Global and National Company Partnership
What was the HR situation?
- A national engineering Company are leading on a long-term state-of-the-art construction project, which means collaborating with several partners. The clients were keen to establish future ER protocols, alignment of shared values, resource planning, and talent management, to focus on gains, to maximise workforce efficiencies, whilst maintaining their own Company and workforce identities.
Birch-HR were approached, via referral to discuss, plan and draft an Employee Relations (ER) strategy for this high-profile project, which all Companies would buy into and provide a planned framework for the next 1-6 years. The client’s objective was to plan an integrated ER strategic way of working for the duration of the project, to build on what was already in place across the white and blue collar diverse workforces, which was strengthened by innovation.
How did the Birch-HR Consultant(s) support?
- There were several client and HR consultancy meetings to establish why, how and what. Each meeting built trust, understanding of what was required and how HR, the executive team and the totality of the combined workforce could effectively work together on the project and establish an ER strategy that all companies and stakeholders could buy into. No mean feat.
Our HR Consultant held engagement meetings with HR at all partner companies and used this feedback engagement to inform the ER strategy.
Our two experienced HR Consultants, bringing in specialist pockets of HR expertise for the sector, planned, developed and drafted the ER strategy on behalf of the Company HR Directors and executive team.
The ER strategy contained a simple framework for collaborative talent acquisition, succession planning, staff engagement, resourcing, management of HR data, compliance with future employment law and clear action planning.
What was the outcome and how did HR add value?
- The client reviewed the draft ER strategy and shared it with their global and national partners.
- They loved the simplicity of the strategy, the ability of our HR Consultants to navigate a complex partnership structure and interpreting HR requirements, as well as accurately capturing their immediate and future workforce needs.
- The strategy was shared with the executive team and they immediately bought into the strategy and are ready to implement it.
